Pork Chops with Mushroom Cream Sauce

Happy New Year! This is my first post of 2019, and like most, I’m focusing on losing weight, starting with the Keto diet! This isn’t my first time on this diet, but with less than 30 days before I’m on the beaches of my beloved Jamaica, it was the diet that would deliver the most results in the shortest amount of time. I also love the Keto diet because it’s protein and fat heavy, which means I can eat these delicious pork chops with mushroom sauce.

Pork Chops with Mushroom Cream Sauce

  • 2 Bone-in Pork Chops
  • 1-8 oz. sliced Portobello mushrooms
  • ¼ cup yellow onion diced small
  • 1 clove of garlic finely chopped
  • ¼ cup chicken stock
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp. Unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil


  1. Season pork chop with salt and pepper.
  2. Add a few tablespoons of olive oil to the cast-iron pan. Sauté the pork chop on one side until golden brown about 3-5 minutes on each side. Do not cook the pork chop completely since it will finish cooking in the sauce. Remove pork chops from pan.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the pan, and sauté the mushrooms and onions on medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes until golden brown. Add the garlic and cook for one minute.
  4. Add chicken stock to mushrooms, then cook for 1 minute, then add heavy cream and let cook for 2 minutes. Season with salt & pepper to taste.

  5. Add pork chops back in the pan and let cook for a few more minutes until done.

Recipe Notes

The mushroom cream sauce will be loose. If you want a thicker sauce, you can add cornstarch or flour to thicken.
